$75,000 to Harvest Community Gardens

Co-op Community Spaces has officially announced its 2024 recipients, and we proud to announce that Salt Spring and Southern Gulf Island Community Services Society's Harvest Community Gardens has been awarded $75,000 for construction of two new greenhouses that will help cultivate food for programs supporting low-income families, children, and seniors facing food insecurity.

"It is great to have this funding to begin our development of greenhouses and community gardens. It will be a an important food security addition to our community that Island Community Services and Co-op can be very proud of" said Rob Grant, Executive Director of the Salt Spring and Southern Gulf Island Community Services Society.

“Investing in our community is central to our values as a Co-op. Important projects like development of the greenhouses for the Harvest Community Gardens is a natural fit for us. We are proud to be a part of important projects like this to help people in our communities for years to come” said Ian Anderson, CEO of Mid Island Co-op.


Co-op Community Spaces donated 14 projects in Western Canada, bringing the program’s total investment in capital projects to an amazing $13.5 million in 189 projects over 10 years.is funding projects that will help bring our communities back together.
